Gardeners Beware
Stay in the marketing business long enough and you’re bound to hear the comparison between marketing and gardening… you know, the one where the first contact with the lead or prospect is like planting the seed… and then you water it with a second contact, nurture it with features and benefits and proper objections handling, until finally you reap the harvest… when your “lead” transforms into your “beautiful new customer”, becoming happily involved with your product or service. Or something to that effect.
If you want to employ a “backyard gardener” style of marketing, that’s fine. Backyard gardeners generally work on a small scale, often planting “onesies” around the yard – ala working with one prospect at a time. The average network marketing tryout and other home based business hopefuls usually do it that way – one at a time - and often it doesn’t work so good. In fact, 95% of all network-marketing attempts end in failure.
There is a better way: You can choose to sell on a big scale – become a farmer. In farming, you use broadcast seeding; planting thousands and thousands of seeds at a time; putting your opportunity in front of thousands and thousands of sets of eyeballs every day. Every day.
